Web Image Builder

The FreeWRT team proudly presents a new method to create your own firmware images with just a web browser. With the launch of the FreeWRT Web Image Builder the beta phase for FreeWRT 1.0 begins.

Create your own FreeWRT image at http://wib.freewrt.org/.

The Web Image Builder uses a sqlite database to keep all information about supported devices, packages and dependencies between all components. After you have choosen your device, root filesystem type and your packages it uses a shell script (ib.sh) on the webserver to combine the bootloader, kernel and packages to create a ready to go firmware image, which you can install via the webupgrade process of the original firmware (except for Netgear WGT634u). Please be sure that you do not try to install a firmware image bigger than 3.2 MByte for devices with 4 MByte flash space and 6.5 Mbyte for devices with 8 MByte flash space.

The FreeWRT Web Image Builder and FreeWRT 1.0 are still in beta phase, so expect problems. Please report any problems via our ticket system. A known issue is that you need cookies, and if you don't have cookie support enabled in your browser, there will be a very misleading error message from Rails.

Happy flashing!

PS: Thanks to David for WIB!

Note: Firmware images are created by the WIB on behalf of the person who uses the WIB, and not distributed to them. Since they include third-party programmes, they are not necessarily freely redistributable; the WIB only makes them available to the person that requested them.
